Grundel Robert C. 88 of Florissant Mo. died suddenly at home on December 27, 2016. Beloved son of the late Antonia and Frank Grundel; Beloved brother of Margaret Nolte; Beloved Uncle of William (Karen), Robert, and Mary Nolte; Beloved Great Uncle of Connie (Joe), Michelle (Tony), Steven (Savannah), Justin, Jess, and Jake; Dear Great-Great Uncle, Cousin, Friend, and mentor to many.
During Robert’s lifetime he was always a caregiver and provider. After the passing of his Father Frank in 1976 he became the caregiver for his mother throughout the remainder of her life. He also took on the role of father figure to Margaret’s children after the sudden passing of her husband William Jr. in 1977. He selflessly devoted his life to keeping the family together through his deep faith in God as well as his outstanding mentoring skills. Robert was a very kind and gentle soul; he had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Robert was a member of St. Angela Merici parish. He attended daily Mass his entire life. He was a member of the Daily World Missionaries and also attended the White House retreat yearly. He had a passion to help others and supported many charities.
Robert was the athletic director and Scout master at Corpus Christi parish in Jennings for many years. He served as a proud Marine in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Machinist Union, and past member of the Lions club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A memorial mass in celebration of Roberts’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday January 12th at St Angela Merici Parish, 3860 N. Highway 67, Florissant, MO 63034. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Archdiocese of St Louis Mo.
