Raymond (Ray) Peter Sendejas, 66, of Florissant, MO, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, surrounded by his family. Ray was born on October 26, 1949, in East St. Louis, IL. Beloved husband of Debbie Sendejas (nee Krupey). Loving father of Raymond David (Erika Poethig) Sendejas of Arlington, VA. Devoted grandfather of Samuel and Benjamin Sendejas. Dearest brother of Rita Russell of Rochester, IL; Rick Sendejas of Caseyville, IL; Stephen (Yvonne) Sendejas and Angela (Tom) Lippert both of Belleville, IL; and John (Donna) Sendejas of Granite City, IL. He is also survived by his in-laws Sam and Betty Krupey of O’Fallon, MO, and caregiver Jan Dickson, of Florissant. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Sendejas; brother-in-law, George Russell; and his parents, Raymond and Angela (Maldonado) Sendejas. Ray was an uncle, colleague, and friend to countless others.
Ray was a clerk and later a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Florissant for 38 years. He also served as an officer for the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Branch 4839 for many years and was a long-serving election judge for St. Louis County. He was a 1967 graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis and a 1971 graduate of Quincy College in Quincy, IL.
