Joseph Frank Krzan, Sr.

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on December 28, 2016.
Beloved husband of the late Madlyn Krzan (nee Sleboda); loving father of Joseph (Christine) Krzan, Jr. and Maria (William) Shaughnessy; cherished grandfather of Nicole (Nicholas) Harris, Kristy Shaughnessy, Brandon (Cheyenne) Battson; loving great-grandfather of Julianna Harris, Bella and Blu Battson ; dear brother of Eleanor (Leonard) Zawacki, Rosalie Wisniewski, Anthony (Eleanor) Krzan, Jr., Walter (Darlys) Krzan, Pearl (Richard) Tratthen, Anna Mae (Stanley) Stracham and the late Helene Panunzi. Cherished son of the late Anthony A. and Julia Krzan (nee Wiktor). He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and was a friend to many.
Joe grew up in Montdale, PA on the family farm. He entered the United States Army on September 28, 1954, where he was stationed in Strasburg, Austria, and then Ft. Hood, Texas. He moved his family to Endicott, New York where he worked for International Business Machines (IBM) and graduated from the State University New York at Binghamton (SUNY) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joe retired from IBM after thirty years of service as an Engineering Manager in Advanced Technology.
After the loss of his wife in 1989, he moved to Texas to help his son with his restaurant businesses and relocated to St. Louis with his son to be near his daughter and her family.
Cars had been his hobby since he was eleven years of age, at that time helping his father fix the ‘31 and ‘39 Chevrolets. Recently, he worked on his 1956 Packard Patrician with his son, Joe Jr.
Joe was an active member in the Mississippi Valley Packard Club, National Packard Automobile Classics, National and Local Classic Car Club of America, First Capital Classic Auto Club and Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri. Being proud of his Polish heritage, he was a member of the Polish American Cultural Society of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. (St. Charles). The family will also receive friends Friday, January 6, 2017 from 9:30 am until time of Mass at 10:30 am at Assumption Church, 403 Main St.(O’Fallon). Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Maria and Joe Jr., I know only too well the loss you feel. I have such warm memories of Joe Sr. He was so friendly and fun to be around. I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We have lost a true gentleman but I know he's watching over us all from above. I've thought of him so many times over the past few years. The O'Fallon Optimist Club really misses Joe , Sr, Jr and Christine.
