John Lester Kumnick

Died: January 13, 2017

John bravely fought his battle with cancer and came to find peace on Friday January 13th, at home surrounded by his family. John is survived by Sharon his wife of 52 years; Loving father of Phillip “Christina” Kumnick, and Alex ” Susan ” Kumnick; Loving grandfather of Brittany, Madison, Allison, Jenna, and Elizabeth Kumnick; Loving brother of Dorothy ” Jim” Stimart, Robert Kumnick, and Barbara “Tom” Simms. John was preceded in death by his parents Lester “Marie” Kumnick

John was a US Army veteran and an Evans Scholar who attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. John grew up in Chicago, married Sharon and they started their family there before moving to Chesterfield in 1985. Over these last 31 years John grew to call St. Louis home. When John and Sharon retired they moved to Whitmoor Country Club to enjoy playing golf, playing cards and traveling to visit their sons, daughters in law, and grandchildren. When it was too cold at Whitmoor, they spent their winters in Phoenix where they could always find the time for more golf and enjoy the friends they made there too. John also had a life time passion for the Cubs, each year praying for them to win a World Series. This year it finally paid off and he was happy to attend a World Series game at Wrigley Field. John was loved by all and he will be missed!

Condolences for John Lester Kumnick

Kumnick Family: I had the pleasure of working with John in the Tax Department at The Frick Company for over six years. John was a mentor, and true professional. He was one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet, and always treated everyone he met with courtesy and respect, while still maintaining his own very high standards. I will always remember him and his kindness. May our Lord grant you peace and comfort. You're in my prayers. Tom Finley, CPA, Edwardsville, IL
