David Cecil White

Died: March 16, 2017

David C. White passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the age of 85. Loving husband of the late Aldine White; loving father of Ron (Carol) White; loving grandfather of Jessica (Bryan) Emerson, Rebecca (Jordan) Robinson, and Sarah (David) Good; loving great-grandfather of Addison Emerson and Emma Robinson; loving brother of Elsie Sherry, and Eva Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Louise White, Irene Johnston and one brother Buford White.

Born  in Sweetwater, TX; David spent most of his younger years in Lowell, AR. He attended the University of Arkansas and then joined the US Airforce, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Miami and in Japan.

David married Aldine Patton in 1954 and they were married 40 years before her passing. They had one son, Ron, in 1957.

David retired from McDonnell-Douglas after working 37 years. He enjoyed working on aviation projects, including the F-4 Phantom, F-15, and F-18.
Favorite pastimes of David included cheering on his St. Louis Cardinals, working in his flower garden, growing African violets, bird-watching, and making greeting cards for his family and friends.

David was a devout Christian and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Harvester and was active in the Home-bound Ministry and with the Benevolence Fund. Most recently, David was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles. His devotional book and Bible were ever-present and well-read.

While not a man of many words, he was a gentle man who loved his family more than anything and always wore a smile, a smile that lit up his whole face.

***The family would like to express deep appreciation to the compassionate staff of Twin Oaks in O’Fallon who lovingly cared for David during the last few years of his life.
