Barbara Ann Stojeba (nee Schaffer) was called Home on Monday, February 13, 2017, at 76 years of age. Predeceased by parents Esther and Anton (Tony) Schaffer, sisters Marlene (Bob) Spitzmiller and Joan (Gordon) Evans, she was the life-long sweetheart of Joseph Frank Stojeba and celebrated 54 years of marriage. Strongly committed to their three children, Dr. Todd Stojeba, Jill Stojeba and Wendy (Larry) Schneider, she was also the proud grandmother of Nicholas Stojeba and Lelah Schneider.
Barbara lived selflessly, serving God by brightening the lives of many. As Joe’s wife, she served as the original “smartphone,” staying on top of sports games, afterschool activities, meetings and agendas for her spouse and three children. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness, constantly sending treasured notes, cards and greetings to those she held dear, and planning for their visits.
Barbara enjoyed closeknit relationships with the Schaffer and Stojeba/Surtin families. From calls she shared with predeceased sister-in-law Virginia (George) Zimmermann and surviving sister Ginger (Gregg) Thomas, to talks with Janice and Gordon Evans and Stanley and Jonni Stojeba, Barbara loved opportunities to get together with those she loved, including her treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Family extends its gratitude to Barbara’s exceptional medical team, especially Dr. Lissa Lopez, Brigid Eimer of Fresenius, and the 4, 5 and 600 ICU nurses at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. They never gave up on her.
