James (Jim) Henry Hemmersmeier

Died: March 9, 2017

James (Jim) Henry Hemmersmeier, 77, died peacefully at his home in St. Charles, Missouri after a battle with cancer. He was born on September 25, 1939 to Henry Hemmersmeier and Rose Henckler. Jim graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1957 and went on to earn a degree in accounting from St. Louis University.

He married Patricia Maher in 1963. They moved to Florissant, MO where they spent over 30 wonderful years raising their family. They are parents of six children, Christopher (Sandy) Hemmersmeier of Salt Lake City, Utah; John (Hanalee) Hemmersmeier of Ogden, Utah; Michael (Kim) Hemmersmeier of Defiance, MO; Daniel (Susan) Hemmersmeier of Elmhurst, Illinois; Thomas (Cami) Hemmersmeier of South Jordan, Utah; and Anne (Jason) Mannello of St. Charles, Missouri.

Jim spent his professional career working as an accountant, mainly with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri.

Jim was well known for his dedication to faith and family. Throughout his adult life Jim faced the struggles of chronic illness with dignity and grace. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Pat, six children, twenty-one loving grandchildren, siblings Mary Alice Hemmersmeier, John (Carol) Hemmersmeier, and Mark (Debbie) Hemmersmeier, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Family would like to express their deep gratitude to the loving care Jim received from SSM Hospice.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Louis University High School, 4970 Oakland Ave., St. Louis, MO. 63110

Services: Visitation will be Thur. March 16, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Cottleville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. following visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

I am so saddened to hear of Jim's passing. My heart and prayers are with the family during this heart breaking time.

I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. Hemmersmeier passing away. I went to school with his son Chris and was honored to be welcomed by the whole family. When Chris and I graduated from college, our families got together for a celebration and my dad Gene would often mention the fun he had talking to Jim.
